About the artist...Pamela Squires

Ms. Squires was born and raised in Sewickley, a small town just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Pamela was first seduced by the fusion of antique and contemporary art from watching her parents. Her father, an antique collector of fine early American antiques was her first mentor. She would watch him create beautiful pieces of furniture from a broken down mess of wood the “old fashioned way”. As a child, she would sit on the steps of the basement and observe the way her father gently coaxed the natural beauty from the wood hidden by layers of paint and abuse. He treated the wood with respect and nurtured their stories. She also spent many hours mesmerized by her mother, an award winning artist. She witnessed again the creation of contemporary beauty from the strokes of her mother's paint brush to the skillful placement of her chisel on stone, creating an exceptional sculpture out of that obscure piece of stone. At a young age, Pamela spent time at art museums with her mother and antique shows with her father. Pamela developed a keen eye for quality and style while honing her skills in the arts. Her style is quirky, never ostentatious, classical and whimsical. An eccentric designer, Pamela painstakingly incorporates diminutive details in her jewelry. She draws inspiration from many different time periods, styles and disciplines.

Personally, she is a mother first then an artist, retired corporate executive, Crohn's disease warrior, best friend, volunteer, country club survivor, daughter, sister, little girl, woman, animal lover, entrepreneur, spiritual, tomboy and believer in staying hungry to do more, better and wiser. Pamela is also a firm believer in "paying it forward". Ms. Squires said, "When you give with no expectation of return, quietly your heart and soul grow."
